Where are we meeting?

The meeting point is at

Elvaston Castle’s Courtyard

DE72 3EP (green circle on map),

meet here at 10am

We will be painting at a location two minutes walk away from here (setting off at 10:10AM) marked in solid green on the map (Next to Springthorpe’s Cottage). It’s an open green space with lots of tree’s, a mini wood, the cottage itself with a couple of round picnic tables, all over looked by the church.

There is no ‘feature’ per say but plenty to paint, if you look. As always you are free to roam as far and wide as you like within the park but the main group will be in this location for the duration.

If you want to arrive later this is where you will find the group .

We have been allocated a classroom with complimentary tea and coffee provided kindly by the team at Elvaston, This is located in the smaller courtyard marked ‘carriage wash’ on the map) very near to where we will be painting.

We will head back to meet here at 1:30pm for tea and coffee and discuss the work from the day if you’d like to, no obligation..

I recommend buying an all day ticket.

A pack lunch, snacks/water (optional)

A chair if you prefer to sit

An open mind

A positive spirit to be prepared to paint in all weathers

What actually happens on the day?

10:00am - Meet up

In extreme weather we will paint in the courtyard to the right of the main castle which is exposed but sheltered.

The hardest thing about painting outside is generally getting your kit together and stepping outside your own front door, if you attend, then that is a success in itself.. don’t underestimate that.

We hope to see you in the field.
